Coastal systems. Marine energy. Hydrodynamics.
Research across coastal infrastructure, marine renewable energy, experimental and computational hydrodynamics, and met-ocean resource assessment.
Research theme / 01
Coastal Hydrodynamics & Infrastructure
How do coastal structures perform within the marine environment?
I investigate wave–structure interaction and the hydrodynamic performance of coastal infrastructure, including breakwaters and coastal protection systems. Physical and numerical modelling examine wave reflection, transmission and overtopping to assess how structures interact with the marine environment.

Marine Renewable Energy
How can marine energy be assessed and integrated with coastal infrastructure?
My marine-energy research focuses on wave-energy systems, including oscillating water columns, and their integration with coastal infrastructure. I assess energy capture, hydrodynamic performance and feasibility, with met-ocean resource analysis providing context for wave and tidal/current energy applications.

Experimental & Computational Hydrodynamics
How reliably can we measure and model hydrodynamic behaviour?
I combine physical modelling and wave-flume experiments with CFD and numerical modelling to study marine flows, turbulence and wave–structure interaction. Image-based measurements, experimental validation and uncertainty analysis help assess model reliability and the quality of hydrodynamic predictions.

Met-ocean & Marine Resource Assessment
How can marine data inform resource, site and feasibility decisions?
I analyse wave, wind, tide and current data alongside bathymetry and geospatial datasets to assess marine-energy resources and site conditions. Time-series and spatial analysis support site screening, marine spatial planning and early feasibility assessment.
